This is spot on. I realized this created a blind spot for our family, too. I married a Bajan-American immigrant. I'm a white guy, who grew up in Connecticut. We both grew up in societies where we were a member of the dominant, prevailing race. It seems incredible now, but it never occurred to either of us that we were supposed to teach our boys to behave a certain way around cops, for instance.
