On this land, a tribe called the Wypipo once thrived

A cautionary tale of the melanin-challenged

In this place, a great civilization rose and fell. Its people convinced themselves that their greatness and virtue was derived from their whiteness and their pinkness. They believed that their lack of melanin made them righteous, and allowed them to do many things. They believed themselves to be White, and this belief allowed them to do many great and terrible things without fear of consequences. And for a time, the Wypipo thrived.

In the beginning of their terrible reign, the Wypipo landed in the eastern part of the land, where they bargained with its inhabitants. The Lenape believed that they were showing generosity and grace by allowing the Wypipo to hunt on the land in exchange for some trinkets. The Wypipo made their own truth, though, and they believed that they had just purchased the ground forever. They believed that their papers made it right and they knew their gunpowder made it real.

Soon after, the Wypipo overthrew their own masters, and created a compact among themselves. They announced that all men were created equal. But the seed of their destruction was sown then, because Wyperson who wrote this document did not mean it. This Wyperson (and many like him) owned other people. It was enshrined in the founding document…
