I have this argument with other White people all the time. A lot of quieter, passive-aggressive racists are operating under the assumption that unqualified Black people walk into universities and jobs all the time because of their skin color. They even have numbers.

A common one is that Blackness is good for an extra 200 SAT points on a college admission form. When I ask for proof of this, I get a shrug and a "c'mon, everybody knows." I can provide some data of my own. My biracial sons are both in college now, having gotten into highly competitive, selective universities. Between them, they applied to at least 20 schools. They got into exactly ZERO schools for which they were under-qualified (e.g. in the bottom quartile of applicants, in terms of SATs and GPA).

I get an "oh" out of that, maybe.
