Hey Trumpies, quit dragging out the “you can keep your doctor” trope
Let’s compare a tale of 2 lies.
Obama: You can keep your doctor
On Nov. 4, 2013, Obama promised that you could keep your doctor if you wanted to, under the Affordable Care Act.
On Nov. 8, four days later, he admitted his mistake, apologized, and said that his administration would try to fix the issue. They were unable to do so, given the Republican congress (which allowed none of the customary tweaks normally effected on major pieces of legislation).
Trump: Obama is not a US citizen
In 2012, Trump gained political attention for the first time by claiming that “credible sources” told him that Obama’s birth certificate was a fraud.
Trump knew he was lying, but he kept telling the lie because he got a lot of attention and support from his racist voting bloc (later dubbed the “deplorables” and rightly so, by Hillary Clinton).
Trump elaborated on his lie in a number of ways. For instance, he claimed that he’d sent investigators to Hawaii to investigate the matter. That was another flat out lie. Michael Cohen just confirmed that.
It took 5 years for Trump to admit his deliberate lie. Not days. Not weeks. Not months. Years.
