A white guy, a black guy and an Asian guy walk into a bar and kill somebody
In the past, I’ve been accused of “racializing” things. Like the time I was on this jury trial and pointed out that we — the jury — were sitting in judgment of a Hispanic kid and 11 out of 12 of us jurors were white. And Manhattan is only 50% white! What are the odds?
So let me take the opposite tack. I’ll de-racialize the George Floyd incident. Let’s say me and two of my friends (we call ourselves the Colorblind Crew) walk into a NYC bar and kill somebody. Never mind about the reason. We’re not cops, but we have a good reason.
I’m the white guy in this scenario, if you’re keeping score at home. I’m short and kind of small, so I sneak up and jump on the guy’s back. One of my other friends rushes him from the front and knocks us to the floor. My other friend gets a scissor lock around the guy’s throat and we take care of the job.
Everything is on video. We aren’t wearing masks. Me and my friends decide to celebrate by having a couple drinks until the cops show up. We’re a fairly dim crew. Do we all get arrested, yes or no?
